Welcome to the Website of St Michael and All Angels Church, Sandhurst, Berkshire

Picture

Welcome by Rev John Castle, Rector

Picture
St Michael’s is a community of people who worship God together, and who want to know God better and serve him better in our daily lives.
People come to our church for all sorts of reasons - at major life events such as marriage, christenings, bereavement, to find God and his purpose for their lives or to get involved in a local Christian community.
Whoever you are, we hope you'll find what you are looking for on this site, so we can help you practically, spiritually or however we can!

Seating Arrangements at Church Services

We no longer have any seats blocked off. However, if you would prefer to sit apart from others, please pick up a card containing the message "Please leave a space next to me. Thank you" and place it next to you in the pew.

There is always plenty of space at the 8.00 am Holy Communion Service, and quite sufficient at other services for people to be able to keep a distance from others.

Please be sensitive to the needs of everyone.

Visiting the Church

The church is usually open for visiting and private prayer on weekdays and weekends (except during Sunday morning services), and you are welcome to light a candle as an act of prayer. This depends upon the availability of volunteers to open and lock it, but you can also phone or e-mail the office to arrange for the church to be open when you want to visit. (See contact page.)

Survey - Church Together Service / Intergenerational Church

We are gathering views about the Church Together Service and being an intergenerational church.

There are two surveys, one for adults and one for children, as below. For either survey you can complete the survey online, or edit the .docx file with your answers and return to us, or print the  .docx or .pdf file and enter your answers by hand.

"What Do I Need?"

The following article by Youth Worker Mike Gower appears on the front page of the August Newsletter

What do I need? Wallet, keys, phone – or is it handbag, purse, phone? The pat-down process before heading out the door. Those last-minute checks before heading out of the door. Whether on a quick dash out or a trip out, do you write a check list when you're heading out? Does it include clothes, toothbrush, phone charger, money… the list can be endless.

What would you pack for your spiritual faith journey? Maybe this is not something you think about, or you don’t feel you are equipped, or 'that is more for spiritual people than me'? Don’t panic! How about a compass, (not a satnav), with three points on it:

One point being a bible, to offer narrative on your journey. Drawing on the wisdom it can offer, for encouragement and to inform your values and morals.

Another point would be tradition – learning from the heritage of Christianity. The different ways we have learnt to pray and worship.

The third point would be culture. It is all around us, it influences from what we wear to what political views you might have.

So, to guide us, it could be more bible directed at times than tradition or culture – the needle pointing us in the right direction.

As you check your compass and your directional influences, enjoy your journey.
