Sunday Services
Morning Services
8.00am
|
Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
A quiet, traditional and reflective service, lasting about 40 minutes, including a short sermon. |
9.30am
|
Parish Communion, with activities for children and young people.
We use the modern Common Worship liturgy (Order 1) and the music is led by our choir. The service is usually finished by 10.40 am. The normal pattern of these services is as follows 1st Sunday: "Traditional" Will usually include a presentation about the charity we are focussing on this month. 2nd Sunday: "Informal" Breakfast will be served in the Pastoral Centre between 8.00 and 9.30 services. The service will include some modern worship songs led by the choir and the band; new service sheet; interactive sermon. Coffee/tea also served afterwards in Pastoral Centre. 3rd Sunday: "Reflective" There will be space for reflection at several points in the service, including after the sermon; the psalm will be sung by the choir alone, giving an opportunity to reflect on the words as we listen. 4th Sunday: The 9.30 Parish Communion is replaced by the "Church Together" service at 10.30 am in the Pastoral Centre. Please see more information below. 5th Sunday: "Traditional" Children
During termtime, there are age-related activities in the Pastoral Centre for children aged 3 up to school year 5 every week, and for Year 6+ on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. They should come to the Pastoral Centre by 9.25 am to be registered. The group leaders bring them into the church for the last part of the service. During school holidays children should come into the church with their parents at the beginning of the service, and will be invited to join a leader after a few minutes of the service to watch a video in the Pastoral Centre. The group leaders bring them into the church for the last part of the service. For young children staying in the service there are play-bags; please ask one of the welcome team. |
4th Sunday ‘Church Together’ Service at 10:30am
On the fourth Sundays, instead of the 9:30am service there will be a new service called Church Together at 10:30am. The aim of this service is to encourage everyone (young, old and all in-between) to take part, to learn in a way that suits them and to learn from each other. It is hoped that this service will be very accessible to everyone, it is set up as part of being an inter-generational church. This service format was introduced in January 2022.
Before the service, which takes place in St Michael's Pastoral Centre, refreshments will be served from 10:10am. The service will start with a period of worship including songs, bible reading and an introduction to the theme. Then, people will choose from one of the following zones:

- Journaling/Colouring: An area at the back of church where adults and children can reflect on the theme using art to create pictures.
- Craft/Busy: An area for everyone to make something related to the theme. This will also be at the back of church.
- Quiet/Word: An area for people to sit, spend time with God in quiet and listen to what He has to say about the theme. There will be copies of the passage in different versions of the bible as well as questions to consider. This will be in the north aisle.
- Chat: An area to discuss with others the questions and topics that the themes raise. There are no ‘right’ answers and you don’t need to be an expert.
11.15am

Family Service (1st & 3rd Sundays of every month, including school holidays).
The Family Service is informal and child friendly, with action songs and an interactive talk, and is a place you really can come to with small children and not worry how they will behave! Refreshments are served in the church from 11.00 am; worship begins at 11.15 am and lasts about 45 minutes. Come and meet other families and make friends. |
Messy Church
Yes you did read that correctly and it means exactly what it says! We run Messy Church occasionally - look out for announcements. It's a great way to meet with God and learn about being a Christian through paint, craft, activity, story and food. The concept of Messy Church is that children and adults share the activities together. There is always a written explanation of each activity, linked to the spiritual theme or Bible story.
