The Spire Project
Our beautiful church building needs repair - the wooden tiles (shingles) on the spire, the peal of six bells and the clock all need attention, the total cost of which is around £250,000. For more information, and how you can donate to this appeal, please visit our WinSpire 2024 page. Stewardship campaign 2024
When we recognise all the blessings that God has given us, what should be our attitude towards the things we own, the talents, skills, money and time we have? What part do you play in your church? Please read the leaflet below, and consider your response to God. Although Stewardship Sunday has now passed, offers as in the leaflet are still very welcome.
Visiting the ChurchThe church is usually open for visiting and private prayer on weekdays and weekends (except during Sunday morning services), and you are welcome to light a candle as an act of prayer. This depends upon the availability of volunteers to open and lock it, but you can also phone or e-mail the office to arrange for the church to be open when you want to visit. (See contact page.)

"The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light . . .
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given"
Isaiah 9:2, 9:6
The following article by Rev Jane Kraft appears on the front page of the December 2024 Newsletter
Have you ever been to the Christmas markets on the continent, almost every shop and hotel lobby has an advent wreath. This custom has become more common in this country and many churches light advent candles as part of the liturgy each Sunday during Advent.
As we light the candles each week we think about God’s people and their pilgrimage of faith down the ages. The patriarchs, the prophets, John the Baptist, and Mary the mother of our Lord. Some churches use the lighting of each candle to focus on the four themes of peace, faith, hope and love.
As we journey through these next four weeks may we know for ourselves the peace that passes all understanding and be channels for that peace in this broken, divided and war-torn world. With all the business of the preparations for the festivities it is so easy for the reason we celebrate Christmas to get pushed into the background. Have you considered this Advent doing something that will help your faith to grow and focus more on the hope, and love of God revealed in the incarnation.
Heavenly Father, help us to grow deeper into your love as we prepare to celebrate the birth of your Son, illuminate the darkness of our doubt and despair with the bright light of your presence, that we may shine as lights in the world to Your glory. Amen
