The Spire Project
Our beautiful church building needs repair - the wooden tiles (shingles) on the spire, the peal of six bells and the clock all need attention, the total cost of which is around £250,000. For more information, and how you can donate to this appeal, please visit our WinSpire 2024 page. ![]() Exploring the Christian faith with the Start Course from 28th April 2025
What's life all about? Who is God? Can God be real to me? This is a short 6-week introduction to the Christian faith which is run in a small group. For more information, visit our Exploring Faith page. Visiting the ChurchThe church is usually open for visiting and private prayer on weekdays and weekends (except during Sunday morning services), and you are welcome to light a candle as an act of prayer. This depends upon the availability of volunteers to open and lock it, but you can also phone or e-mail the office to arrange for the church to be open when you want to visit. (See contact page.)

Responding With Love
The following article by Rev John Castle appears on the front page of the April 2025 Newsletter
How do you show love and appreciation? Gary Chapman’s books on Love Languages talk of five ways to do this: words, gifts, thoughtful actions, spending time, physical affection. We can use these to deepen our relationship with God too: worshipping and praying, giving money, serving in practical ways, spending time with him; perhaps giving God a hug is more tricky, but we can certainly have experiences where we feel “hugged” by God!
In the story of Mary of Bethany anointing Jesus (John 12:1-8) we see a woman pouring out extremely expensive perfumed ointment on Jesus’ feet – a complete waste, according to one critic. But for Mary, this was a most appropriate way of showing her appreciation to Jesus for raising her brother Lazarus from the dead. What we do to show our love for God may be an indication of how deeply we appreciate all he has done for us, as our Creator, Provider, loving heavenly Father, and, above all for giving Jesus to die for us on the Cross so that we might know God and have eternal life.
Our Holy Week and Easter services are one way we can engage with God’s amazing love and allow our appreciation to deepen. How will you respond to God’s love this Easter?
